Description – Mellerware Biltong King Dryer

The Mellerware Biltong King Dryer is a compact home food dehydration unit designed specifically for making biltong and other dried foods. It combines controlled airflow, vertical hanging space, and drying trays to create an efficient environment for moisture removal and food preservation.

The unit includes three hanging rods and nine durable meat hooks, allowing users to hang strips of meat such as biltong or droëwors for even air circulation. In addition, it comes with two drying trays, making it suitable for dehydrating fruit, vegetables, or smaller food items that require flat drying surfaces.

A built-in 240V fan provides continuous airflow throughout the cabinet, ensuring even drying and reducing moisture buildup. This airflow system helps speed up the dehydration process while maintaining consistent results across all items inside the unit.

The appliance also features a light fitting designed to reduce internal humidity. While the light bulb is not included, it can be used to assist in warming the air inside the unit, improving drying efficiency depending on climate conditions. This flexibility allows users in different regions of New Zealand to adjust drying performance based on humidity levels.

The design is lightweight and easy to assemble, making it accessible for home users without technical installation requirements. The removable base plate simplifies cleaning, ensuring hygiene during repeated use for meat and food drying.

With dimensions of 47cm x 31cm x 31cm, the unit is compact enough for home kitchens while still offering capacity to handle up to approximately 3kg of wet meat at a time. This makes it suitable for small to medium household production of biltong and other dried snacks.

The system is multi-purpose, supporting not only biltong but also jerky, droëwors, dried fruit, and vegetables, making it a versatile food preservation appliance.

The unit is fitted with a New Zealand-compatible electrical plug, ensuring safe and convenient use in local households without additional adapters.
