Description – Moir's Jelly - Lemon 80g

Moir’s Lemon Jelly is an instant dessert mix formulated to create a smooth, citrus-flavoured jelly when dissolved in hot and cold water. Each 80g pack is designed to produce approximately four servings, making it suitable for small family desserts or portion-controlled sweet treats.

The formulation combines sugar, gelatine, flavouring agents, and stabilisers to create a consistent gel structure once set. When prepared correctly, the jelly develops a firm yet delicate texture that holds shape while remaining soft enough to dissolve smoothly in the mouth.

The lemon flavour profile is bright and refreshing, offering a balance between sweetness and citrus acidity. This makes it a versatile dessert base that can be enjoyed on its own or enhanced with additional ingredients such as fruit pieces, custards, or layered dessert components.

The product is designed for ease of preparation, requiring only boiling water and cold water to activate the gelatine. Once mixed and chilled, it sets into a stable dessert that can be served in moulds, cups, or layered dessert dishes.

Its shelf-stable dry mix format ensures long storage life, making it a practical pantry item for households that require quick dessert options without refrigeration until prepared.

Key Features and Product Construction

Moir’s Jelly is built around a gelatine-based setting system that creates a structured yet smooth dessert texture. The gelatine used in the formulation provides elasticity and firmness, allowing the jelly to hold shape while maintaining a soft bite.

Acidity regulators are included to enhance flavour stability and ensure the lemon profile remains bright and consistent after setting. These components also contribute to the overall balance of sweetness and tartness.

Colourants are used to give the jelly its characteristic lemon appearance, enhancing visual appeal and making it more attractive for serving at gatherings or children’s events.

The powder format ensures rapid dissolution in boiling water, allowing the ingredients to activate evenly before being combined with cold water for setting. This two-stage process ensures a stable gel structure without separation or graininess.

The 80g pack size is designed for small-batch preparation, making it ideal for home use rather than large-scale catering, while still offering flexibility for creative dessert applications.

Real-World Performance and Usage Scenarios

In everyday use, Moir’s Lemon Jelly performs reliably when prepared according to instructions and chilled adequately. It sets within a few hours in a standard refrigerator, forming a firm but tender gel structure suitable for slicing, moulding, or spoon serving.

For family desserts, it is commonly used as a standalone treat served in bowls or moulded shapes. Its mild citrus flavour makes it appealing to both children and adults.

In party settings, the jelly is often used as part of layered desserts, fruit cups, or colourful dessert tables. It can be combined with other jelly flavours to create multi-layered visual effects.

For home baking, it can be incorporated into cheesecake toppings, dessert cups, or chilled dessert slices. Its stability makes it suitable for combination desserts where structure is required.

Because it is shelf-stable before preparation, it is convenient for emergency dessert preparation when fresh ingredients are not available.
