Description – Ouma Buttermilk Rusks Chunky (Bolletjies) – 1kg

Ouma Buttermilk Rusks Chunky (Bolletjies) – 1kg are traditional South African rusks made using a classic buttermilk-based recipe. Produced under the Ouma brand, these rusks are designed to deliver a firm, crunchy texture ideal for dunking into hot beverages.

The rusks are baked from a mixture of wheat flour, buttermilk powder, sugar, eggs, and raising agents, then slowly dried to achieve their signature hard, crunchy structure. This process ensures long shelf life and consistent texture.

The flavour profile is mildly sweet with a rich buttermilk taste. It is not overly sweet, making it suitable for pairing with coffee, tea, or warm milk without overpowering the drink.

The texture is dense, crunchy, and sturdy, designed specifically to absorb liquid without falling apart too quickly. The chunky bolletjies size makes them more filling and satisfying compared to smaller rusk variants.

Ouma is one of South Africa’s most iconic rusk brands, known for its long-standing heritage and association with comfort baking. The brand has been a household staple for generations.

In the New Zealand imported biscuit category, Ouma Rusks are valued for their authenticity, nostalgic appeal, and strong pairing with hot drinks. They are especially popular for breakfast and tea-time use.

The 1kg pack size makes it ideal for families or regular consumption.
